Iraq’s Gold Reserves: 162 Tons Rank Among Arab Nations

The Governor of the Central Bank, Ali Al-Alaq, announced today that Iraq boasts one of the highest levels of gold reserves among Arab nations, totaling 162 tons.

In a statement to the official agency, Al-Alaq emphasized that “the central bank is actively monitoring the dynamics of gold and currency movements.” He highlighted that “a component of our strategy to mitigate risks includes maintaining a certain percentage of gold reserves, particularly as recent years have seen a consistent pattern of gold purchases.”

Furthermore, he stated, “Iraq is currently in possession of 162 tons of gold, placing it among the nations with the highest reserves in the Arab region, ranking fourth overall.”
