Iraqi Fuel Sales Soar: 742 Billion Dinars via E-Payment

Iraqi Oil Products Distribution Company Reports Significant Growth in Fuel Sales Through Electronic Payment

The Iraqi Oil Products Distribution Company has announced remarkable growth in fuel sales through its electronic payment system. For the month of January, the company recorded revenues surpassing 742 billion dinars.

Commitment to Automation

Hussein Talib Abboud, the company’s director, highlighted the organization’s dedication to automating its operations in accordance with the government’s strategic initiatives. He noted the successful implementation of the electronic payment project, which positions the company as a pioneer among government institutions since its launch in April 2023.

Project Implementation Phases

The rollout of the electronic payment project is structured in two phases. The first phase aims to ensure 100% fuel availability for all sectors. The second phase focuses on providing fuel access to citizens via distribution outlets, set to be completed by June. This comprehensive approach will ultimately phase out paper payment methods.

Expansion of Electronic Payment Services

Talib emphasized that the electronic payment initiative encompasses a wide range of stakeholders, including both governmental and private fuel stations, agents for gas and white oil, generator operators, tunnel services, agricultural machinery, gas distribution arenas, the white oil fuel card program, ovens, and commercial services in the private sector.

On March 22, 2024, the Ministry of Oil, in collaboration with the Oil Distribution Company, initiated the provision of "Super and Chist" fuel for vehicles via POS electronic payment cards in all governorates.

Conclusion

This progress in electronic payment systems illustrates a significant step forward in the modernization of Iraq’s fuel distribution framework, enhancing both efficiency and accessibility for consumers and businesses alike.
