Iraqi Finance Minister Urges KRG Compliance on Salary Agreement

Iraqi Finance Minister Urges Action in the Kurdistan Region

The Iraqi Finance Minister, Taif Sami, has formally requested the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to implement three critical measures pertaining to the financial management of salaries, pensions, social welfare, and contracts for the year 2025. This communication was made via a letter dated March 2, 2025, addressed to the KRG’s representative.

The letter references a prior correspondence from the Iraqi Prime Minister’s Office, numbered 2581254, received on February 2, 2025, which details the three key requests from the Minister of Finance:

  1. Issuing a financing letter for the December 2025 salaries of KRG employees.
  2. Completing the submission of data regarding the “Tutin” implementation for KRG employees, as outlined in the Federal Supreme Court’s decision.
  3. Transferring non-oil revenue for December 2025 to the designated account at the Central Bank of Iraq, account number 70018.

Soran Omar, a member of the economic committee of the Iraqi Parliament and head of its judicial faction, emphasized the importance of adhering to this agreement between the Iraqi and Kurdistan Regional Governments regarding salary disbursements.

In response, the KRG Council of Ministers convened and made the decision to expedite the transfer of non-oil revenues to the Federal Treasury for December 2025.
