Iraq Tops List for Turkish Animal Product Exports in 2024

Iraq Emerges as Leading Exporter of Animal Products

The Society of Exporters of Animal and Fish Products has reported that Iraq has secured the top position in animal product exports.

Growth in Turkey’s Animal Food Exports

Ali Jan Yaman Yilmaz, the Vice-President of the Association, announced that Turkey’s animal food exports reached $3.86 billion in 2024, reflecting a notable increase of 10.8% compared to the previous year.

Key Export Commodities and Markets

Yilmaz highlighted that the most sought-after products in export markets over the past year included fresh, refrigerated fish, poultry meat, and fish fillets. The report ranks Iraq, Russia, and Italy as the top three countries for animal product exports.

Contribution to National Export Figures

The fishery and animal products sector contributed 1.7% to Turkey’s total exports, which amounted to $262 billion in 2024. This underscores the significance of the sector within the broader economic landscape.
