Iraq Reaches Liquid Gas Self-Sufficiency, Eyes Export Markets

Iraqi Oil Ministry Highlights Progress in Liquid Gas Production

The Undersecretary of the Iraqi Oil Ministry for Gas Affairs, Izzat Saber, has announced a significant milestone in Iraq’s energy sector: the country has achieved self-sufficiency in liquid gas production and is now exporting surplus quantities to international markets.

This announcement followed Saber’s visit to the "Middle East" laboratory, a facility focused on the production of liquid gas cylinders, which represents an investment venture in the private sector located in Basra Governorate.

During his remarks, Saber reported that gas production rates have surpassed 8,000 tons per day. He emphasized ongoing development initiatives aimed at expanding the consumption of liquid gas as an alternative to various liquid fuels. These initiatives are supported by investment projects tailored for industrial, service, and residential sectors.

Saber highlighted the pivotal role that investment projects play in enhancing the national industry. He underscored the need to promote the production of iron and plastic cylinders in alignment with established international standards. Furthermore, he stressed the importance of implementing effective marketing strategies and local consumption mechanisms in collaboration with relevant authorities in the gas filling and services sector. These efforts collectively aim to fulfill the strategic visions and objectives necessary for fostering industrial development.

Overall, Iraq’s advancement in liquid gas production not only contributes to energy independence but also bolsters the country’s economic framework through targeted investments and enhanced industrial capabilities.
