Iraq Ranks Fourth in Turkish Imports for December
The Turkish Statistical Authority has revealed that Iraq was the fourth-largest importer of Turkish goods in December 2024.
According to the authority’s report, total Turkish exports in December reached $23.443 billion, marking a 2.1% increase compared to the same month in 2023. Conversely, Turkish imports rose significantly to $32.221 billion, reflecting a 20.9% increase year-over-year.
Leading Importing Partners
The report highlighted that Germany led the list of Turkey’s export partners, with an export value of $1.644 billion. The United States followed closely with $1.499 billion, while the United Kingdom secured the third position at $1.414 billion.
Iraq’s import value from Turkey amounted to $1.198 billion, placing it fourth in the rankings. Italy followed, coming in fifth with imports valued at $1.186 billion. Collectively, these five countries accounted for 29.6% of Turkey’s total exports in December.
Iraq’s Import Landscape
The Turkish Statistical Authority emphasized that Iraq primarily imports essential goods, commodities, and foodstuffs from neighboring countries, notably Turkey and Iran, with comparatively lower import levels from the Gulf Arab states and Jordan.
This data underscores the growing economic ties between Turkey and Iraq, highlighting the significance of trade partnerships in the region’s economic landscape.
