The Turkish Statistics Authority has announced that Iraq was the fifth-largest importer from Turkey in January.
In its latest report, the authority indicated that Turkish exports in January reached $21.165 billion, reflecting a 5.8% increase, while imports totaled $28.703 billion, marking a 9.6% rise compared to the same period in 2024.
Germany emerged as Turkey’s leading export partner with exports valued at $1.782 billion, followed by the United States at $1.371 billion and the United Kingdom at $1.280 billion.
The United Arab Emirates ranked fourth with $1.012 billion in exports, while Iraq accounted for $950 million. Notably, the combined exports to these top five countries constituted 30.3% of Turkey’s total exports in January 2025.
Iraq primarily imports a variety of goods, including essential commodities and food items, from neighboring countries, particularly Turkey and Iran, with a smaller percentage coming from the Gulf Arab states and Jordan.
