In January, Iraq was positioned fifth among the largest importers from Türkiye. According to data released by the Turkish Statistics Authority, Turkey’s exports for the month reached approximately $21.165 billion, reflecting a 5.8% increase year-on-year. Meanwhile, imports into Turkey totaled around $28.703 billion, showing a 9.6% increase compared to the same month in 2024.
The report highlighted Germany as Turkey’s primary export partner, accounting for $1.782 billion worth of goods. The United States followed closely with exports valued at $1.371 billion, while the United Kingdom contributed $1.280 billion to Turkish export figures. The United Arab Emirates ranked fourth with $1.012 billion in exports to Turkey, and Iraq accounted for $950 million. Collectively, these five nations comprised 30.3% of total Turkish exports in January 2025.
Iraq primarily imports a range of goods and essential foodstuffs from neighboring countries, particularly Türkiye and Iran, with a lesser volume coming from the Arab Gulf states and Jordan.
