Iraq Ranks Fourth in Turkish Pistachio Imports

The Turkish Channels Exchange Council has reported that Iraq secured the fourth position in the importation of pistachios from Turkey.

Council President Issa Kizbadimir stated that Turkey’s pistachio exports reached an impressive $229.77 million across 96 countries in 2024, representing a significant 52% increase compared to the previous year.

In terms of export destinations for Turkish pistachios in 2024, Germany led the way with exports valued at $49 million, followed closely by Italy at $47 million. Kazakhstan ranked third with $12 million in exports, while Iraq contributed $4 million, placing it fourth. Other notable importers included Kyrgyzstan and China.

Kizbadimir emphasized that pistachios grown in southeastern Turkey, specifically in the Gaziantep and Urfa regions, enjoy substantial demand in both domestic and international markets. He referred to these pistachios as "green gold," highlighting their significance to the local economy.
