Iraq Denies US Sanction Threats Over Kurdistan Oil Exports

Iraq Dismisses Claims of U.S. Sanctions Impacting Oil Exports from Kurdistan Region

Baghdad – Farhad Alaeddin, the Foreign Affairs Adviser to the Iraqi Prime Minister, has categorically refuted reports suggesting that Iraq could face U.S. sanctions should oil exports from the Kurdistan Region remain suspended.

In recent statements, Alaeddin asserted, “Iraq denies any claims regarding potential U.S. sanctions over the halt of oil exports from the Kurdistan Region.” He emphasized the absence of any credible threat as purported in media reports about sanctions linked to Iraq’s oil exports.

Alaeddin elaborated that in all recent dialogues with U.S. officials, there were no indications of impending sanctions or any pressure exerted on Iraq regarding the matter.

This firm denial comes amidst ongoing discussions regarding the region’s oil export situation, underscoring Iraq’s position on international economic engagements and commitments.
