Baghdad – The Ministry of Oil has announced that it is supplying the Ministry of Electricity with 10,000 cubic meters of gas oil daily, while successfully achieving self-sufficiency in essential oil products such as white and black oil. During a dialogue session at Iraq Energy Conference 2025, Ali Maarjar, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil, stated that Iraqi refineries produce 30,000 cubic meters of gas oil each day. Additionally, improvements in gasoline production have ensured that local market demands are met, with some products being exported to bolster the state budget.
Prime Minister Mohamed Shi’a Al-Sudani highlighted the government’s achievements since assuming office, including a notable reduction in the gas flaring rate to 70% and an increase in the production of oil derivatives. The government is setting ambitious targets to attain full self-sufficiency in hydrocarbons, with plans to convert 40% of oil output into transformational industries by 2030. This strategy aims to enhance economic sustainability and diversify the sources of national income.
The Iraq Energy Conference 2025, themed “Together for a Promising Future for Energy,” features the participation of local and international experts who convene to explore avenues for advancing the oil and energy sector in Iraq.
