Iraq and World Bank Collaborate on Strategic Development Projects to Boost Economic Growth

The Minister of Planning, Mohamed Ali Tamim, engaged in a significant dialogue today with Othman Denie, the Vice President of the World Bank for the Middle East and North Africa, to address several development and financing issues concerning strategic projects.

A statement from the ministry indicated that Minister Tamim welcomed Vice President Denie and his delegation. The discussions centered on strengthening cooperative efforts between Iraq and the World Bank, with a focus on enhancing collaboration to bolster Iraq’s development process.
The conversation included potential World Bank financing for various strategic initiatives aimed at fostering economic diversity in Iraq. Key projects highlighted were the railway connection between Iraq and Turkey, the electrical interconnection with neighboring countries such as Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, and improvements in highway infrastructure, water management, and the expansion of Baghdad International Airport.
Vice President Denie underscored the importance of Iraq within the World Bank’s future strategic agenda, expressing a commitment to supporting key projects across diverse development sectors.
