On Saturday, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein and Nasser Bouraita, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Living Abroad, agreed to a memorandum of understanding that mutually exempts holders of diplomatic passports from requiring entry visas between Iraq and Morocco.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that the memorandum was signed at the headquarters of the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During a joint press conference, Deputy Prime Minister Fouad Hussein highlighted the significant opportunities for enhancing cooperation between Iraq and Morocco. He emphasized the importance of establishing direct flights to facilitate movement and to advance economic and investment relations. Hussein also commended Morocco’s recent decision to open an embassy in Baghdad, describing it as a pivotal advancement in bilateral relations.
Hussein noted the deep historical ties between Iraq and Morocco, citing Iraq as one of the first nations to recognize Morocco upon its independence. His visit to Morocco included an intensive agenda focused on discussing several multifaceted issues, including Iraq’s commitment to support Morocco’s territorial integrity and its stance on various regional and international matters.
The discussions encompassed a range of political, economic, and commercial topics, particularly reflecting on the regional and international landscape, with particular attention to the Palestinian issue and its latest developments.
