On Monday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shi’a Al-Sudani held discussions with the Jordanian Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply regarding the progress of the joint border economic city initiative.
The Prime Minister’s office issued a statement noting that the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply from the Hashemite Kingdom visited Baghdad in conjunction with the upcoming Arab Summit scheduled for this year.
The statement further indicated that the meeting focused on enhancing bilateral relations between Iraq and Jordan. There was a thorough examination of avenues to strengthen cooperation across various economic and commercial sectors, particularly in light of the Iraqi-Jordanian joint commercial committee’s ongoing efforts. Additionally, the role of the private sectors in both countries was emphasized.
The sessions also addressed the development stages of the joint border economic city project, which aims to foster economic integration, attract investments, and promote partnerships. Emphasis was placed on the anticipated returns and advantages for both nations, especially in the context of the continuous development of strategic projects, including the planned road development initiative.
