Iranian Rial Hits New Low: Currency Crisis Unfolds

The Iranian currency has recently depreciated against the US dollar, reaching an exchange rate of 9 million rials for one US dollar.

“This marks a significant milestone, as it is the first time that the Iranian currency has experienced such a drastic devaluation,” stated Rawaz Mirza, a currency exchange professional, on Saturday.

Mirza elaborated that the remittance rate stands at 9 million rials for 100 US dollars.

The Iraqi dinar has demonstrated stability in its exchange rates. Mirza noted that the current rate is 150,250 dinars for 100 US dollars.

The exchange rates for other currencies within the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) markets are as follows:

  • 100 US dollars – 3,350 Turkish Lira
  • 1 million Syrian pounds – 180,000 dinars
  • 100 euros – 155,000 dinars
  • 100 British pounds – 185,000 dinars
  • 1,000 Swedish kronor – 114,500 dinars
