The Federal Integrity Commission announced the successful apprehension of two individuals involved in the embezzlement of tax trusts from Kuwait.
According to the Commission’s statement, it successfully located the director of a civil trading and contracting company along with his deputy, who are implicated in the scheme to misappropriate substantial amounts of money aimed at facilitating the expenditure of stolen tax trusts. Their involvement was crucial in enabling fraudulent transactions related to these substantial funds.
The Commission elaborated on its recovery efforts, noting that a formal recovery dossier was compiled against the accused and subsequently forwarded to the public prosecutor’s office. Following extensive coordination with relevant bodies, including the Arab and Interpol police divisions within the Ministry of Interior and support from the Iraqi embassy in Kuwait, a red notice was issued for the apprehension of the accused. They were located and arrested in Kuwait, and their extradition to Iraq was conducted through diplomatic channels.
The second judge of the Karkh Investigation Court had previously issued an arrest warrant for the suspects in accordance with Article (11/444) of the Penal Code, following a review of testimonies from other defendants and witnesses involved in the case.
