Renewable Energy Conference in Baghdad: A Platform for Investment Opportunities
Ahmed Moussa, spokesman for the Ministry of Electricity, announced the participation of over 300 companies from 50 countries in the upcoming renewable energy conference. This event is scheduled to take place at the Baghdad International Exhibition from September 24 to 26.

Moussa emphasized that the conference serves as a vital opportunity for both local and international companies to explore the projects spearheaded by the Ministry of Electricity in the renewable energy sector. It aims to facilitate investment proposals that will enhance Iraq’s electrical infrastructure.
Diversification of Energy Sources
The Iraqi government is undertaking initiatives to diversify its gas and energy sources. Moussa noted that the ministry has previously entered into contracts with international firms to establish solar energy stations, aligning with its commitment to promote the transition toward clean energy.
Energy Sustainability Initiatives
In a strategic move to alleviate pressure on the national electricity grid and bolster energy sustainability, Moussa highlighted the transformation of 536 government buildings to operate with solar energy systems.
Recent Developments in Energy Production
At the end of the previous month, Iraqi Electricity Minister Ziyad Ali Fadel announced the initiation of new production projects targeted to generate an additional capacity of 15,000 megawatts. He also confirmed that the country has produced approximately 9,000 megawatts of energy over the past two years.
