Economic Update – Baghdad
On Monday, gas prices on European exchanges surpassed $620 per thousand cubic meters, marking the highest level since February 8, 2023.
As of 11:03 Moscow time, futures contracts for March trading on the TTF index (the principal gas trading hub in the Netherlands) rose by 3.8% to $620.7 per thousand cubic meters.
The contracts opened today’s session with an increase of 3.4%, starting at $618 per thousand cubic meters.
This upward trend follows the conclusion of the gas transit agreement between Russia and Europe via Ukraine, which halted supplies at the beginning of 2025 after Ukrainian authorities declined to renew the gas transit contract with Moscow.
