Egypt’s Prime Minister Heads to Baghdad for Groundbreaking Meetings and 11 Key Agreements

On Wednesday, Egyptian Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouly will convene with his Iraqi counterpart, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, to lead the Supreme Committee between the two nations.

This meeting comes as discussions commenced in Baghdad on Tuesday, with expectations for the signing of eleven memoranda of understanding aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation.

These agreements will cover various sectors, including land transport for passengers and goods, quality measurement and control, as well as collaborations in antiquities and museum management. The memoranda will also address advancements in communications and infrastructure initiatives such as constructing silos and greenhouses.

Moreover, the discussions will focus on strengthening partnerships and sharing expertise across education, health, agriculture, water resources, and the development of the private sector, particularly to foster sustainable development that aligns with the interests of both countries.

According to sources from the Egyptian Commercial Chamber, approximately fifty businessmen will accompany Prime Minister Madbouly on his visit to Baghdad. During the Supreme Committee session, new protocols will be signed, alongside a review of previously established agreements.

Iraq’s Ambassador to Cairo, Qahtan Al-Janabi, has noted that all preparations for the meetings of the Egyptian-Iraqi Committee are complete, slated to take place in Baghdad at the end of this month. The talks will notably involve Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani and his Egyptian counterpart.
