Dollar Surpasses 100,000 Tomans in Tehran’s Open Market
On Tuesday, the exchange rate for the dollar in Tehran’s open market reached an unprecedented 100,000 tomans, marking a significant milestone where a category of $100 exceeds 10 million tomans.
A merchant operating within the Tehran market reported that the dollar was being acquired at a rate of 99,500 tomans, while the selling price had just crossed 100,000 tomans.
This surge in currency values comes on the heels of a "threat" message from U.S. President Donald Trump, who placed responsibility for the recent attacks by Houthi forces in Yemen on Iran’s leadership.
This dramatic upward trend in the dollar’s price highlights ongoing economic tensions and concerns regarding external influences on Iran’s financial landscape.
