BP Delegation Engages with North Oil Company to Advance Oil Field Development
An official representative from the North Oil Company has confirmed that a delegation from the British company BP visited the company’s headquarters on Tuesday. The purpose of this visit was to finalize preparations for the qualification process concerning four of the company’s major oil fields.
According to the representative, "The North Oil Company today received a delegation from BP, focusing on early preparations to implement the contract that will soon be signed between our two organizations."
An expanded meeting took place, chaired by North Oil’s General Manager, Amer Khalil Ahmed, and attended by key managers from central bodies and departments alongside BP’s Zaid Al-Yasiri.
Discussions during the meeting revolved around the technical and operational components of the contract. The parties explored the necessary executive measures required to ensure an efficient workflow in accordance with the established timeline, during which the North Oil Company provided comprehensive insights into the fields and overall production levels to their British counterparts.
The BP delegation expressed their eagerness to execute the project to the highest standards, commending the North Oil Company’s efforts and its commitment to fostering an conducive environment for the realization of the agreement’s terms.
This visit reflects a significant step towards strengthening the bilateral relations between the British and Iraqi companies, underscoring their shared commitment to ensuring project success and mutual benefits.
In a noteworthy development, on August 20, 2024, Prime Minister Mohammed Shi’a facilitated a signing ceremony for a comprehensive oil memorandum between the Ministry of Oil and BP, aimed at developing the Kirkuk fields. The agreement was signed by Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs, Hayyan Abdul-Ghani, on behalf of the Ministry of Oil, while BP’s CEO, Murray Osinklos, represented the company.
The memorandum outlines plans for the rehabilitation and development of four key oil fields in Kirkuk, specifically the Kirkuk field, often referred to as Baba and Afana, the Bay Hassan field, the Jumbor field, and the Khabbaz field, with provisions for future agreements on additional fields.
The government’s objectives, as outlined in this memorandum, include optimizing energy investment to boost oil and gas production, with a particular emphasis on integrating solar energy solutions into the broader energy strategy.
