Basra Governor Asaad Al-Eidani has announced the government’s engagement with Total to address the issue of oil burners and reduce their environmental impact in the province.
In a statement, Al-Eidani indicated that “Iraq has entered into a contract with Total, with additional agreements anticipated to tackle the issue of oil burners at the fields.” This initiative aims to mitigate the adverse effects associated with these burners.
Al-Eidani further emphasized that “it is beyond the local government’s authority to address the issue of contaminated burners, as it does not fall within its jurisdiction.” He noted that “the federal government is actively pursuing solutions to eliminate the dangers posed by contaminated burners, prioritizing the health and safety of citizens.”
