Baghdad’s Strategic Throat Road Project: New Public Transport Paths and Bridges Unveiled

The Ministry of Reconstruction has announced significant enhancements to the throat road serving the capital, Baghdad, which will now feature dedicated lanes for public transportation, service access roads, and multiple bridges.

In a recent meeting led by Minister Benkin Rikani, discussions centered on the design and routing of the fourth Al-Hilqi Road project located within the Baghdad airport area with the participation of the Director General of Roads and Bridges and the project advisory authority. The meeting focused on design specifications, connecting points, and intersections with existing road infrastructure, particularly in light of several upcoming investment projects along the road segment near the airport.

This project is identified as a pivotal strategic initiative for Baghdad, aimed at establishing a thoroughfare that meets the standards of high-capacity transport routes. It will include provisions for public transport, multiple service roadways, and an array of bridges, enhancing the overall connectivity and efficiency of transportation in the region.
