The Minister of Communications, Hayam Al-Yasiri, has announced the signing of a new global contract in the transit sector while indicating the ongoing process of engaging with various international companies in the region.
In her remarks, Minister Al-Yasiri highlighted that the ministry has accomplished numerous projects recently, including initiatives aimed at combating corruption, which have led to the activation of significant projects and an increase in revenue streams. She emphasized that one of the key priorities going forward is to expand the optical cable service infrastructure across Iraq while gradually phasing out Wi-Fi service, as it is deemed inadequate for the needs of the nation and its citizens.
“Our focus extends to the issuance of the fourth license for fifth-generation technology in collaboration with Vodafone,” she noted, elaborating that this license represents the fourth in a series where existing operators such as Asia, Zain, and Kork are already active, with the government introducing a next-generation technology provider.
Al-Yasiri also outlined the ministry’s commitment to key transit projects and underwater cable systems, confirming the signing of a new global contract in partnership with Oman Tel. She reiterated the strategic importance of these ongoing collaborations with international companies in the region.
