On Monday, the Ministry of Electricity announced a significant collaboration with the Swedish company Linuxon, aimed at rehabilitating secondary electricity stations in Baghdad and Diyala. This partnership marks a notable advancement in the infrastructure of Iraq’s electrical transport network.
The Minister of Electricity’s office confirmed that the agreement was executed by the General Energy Transmission Company, representing the central region. The contracts were formalized by Riad Oraibi, General Manager of the General Company for Energy Transport, on the Iraqi side, alongside Hassan Merhi, CEO of Linuxon for the Middle East and Asia, representing the Swiss firm.
These contracts, driven by the directives of Minister Ziyad Ali Fadel, encompass the restoration of three pivotal transfer stations, each with a capacity of 400 kilovolts:
- North Baghdad Secondary Station
- South Baghdad Secondary Station
- Diyala Secondary Station
The rehabilitation initiative will utilize equipment provided by Hitachi International Company. The project entails an upgrade of electrical devices and protection systems, as well as enhancements to the stations’ infrastructure, ensuring continued operational efficiency and reliability.
