Baghdad’s Commerce Ministry Reveals Ramadan Food Basket Details

Economy News – Baghdad

The Ministry of Commerce has announced the forthcoming distribution of essential foodstuffs, scheduled for two key periods: prior to the onset of Ramadan and ahead of Eid Al-Fitr. The details regarding the items to be included in these distributions have been revealed.

According to ministry spokesperson Mohamed Hanoun, the date set for distributing an integrated food basket—containing basic commodities—is the 20th of this month. This initiative aims to ensure that citizens are adequately provisioned as they prepare for Ramadan.

The food basket will encompass a variety of items, including sugar, oil, rice, flour, and tomato paste, as well as five types of legumes: lentils, beans, crushed chickpeas, whole grain chickpeas, and livestock feed.

Hanoun also noted that an additional integrated food basket will be allocated for families under the social welfare network within the monthly distribution cycle. Furthermore, plans are in place to offer an extra meal during the celebration of Eid Al-Fitr.

The Ministry of Commerce is committed to ensuring timely delivery of these foodstuffs, emphasizing the importance of meeting citizens’ needs ahead of both Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr celebrations.
