Baghdad’s Cash Plus Project: 7,000 Families Benefit, New Aid Pending Funding

On Sunday, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs provided an update regarding the Cash Plus project, announcing that 7,000 individuals in Al-Muthanna Governorate have been confirmed for participation. The addition of new beneficiaries in the social research program will be determined based on the availability of funding.

Najm Al-Aqabi, spokesman for the Ministry of Labor, disclosed that “7,000 individuals have been included per month in the pilot subsidy program aimed at supporting women and children in Al-Muthanna Governorate.”

He emphasized that “this project is experimental, encompassing three cohorts for pregnant women and children aged from birth to two years, contingent upon regular vaccination adherence.”

In a related matter, Al-Aqabi noted that “approximately 150 million food baskets have been distributed from the end of 2022 to the present.”

Regarding the timeline for including additional beneficiaries in the social research program, he explained that “we are currently managing one million and 300 thousand families, with procedures for new inclusions hinging on the availability of financial resources.”
