Baghdad Sees Remarkable 98% Drop in Oil Smuggling, No Pipeline Violations Reported

The Ministry of Interior has announced a remarkable 98% reduction in oil smuggling incidents, alongside confirming the absence of violations related to oil pipelines across all governorates.

Interior spokesman, Brigadier General Miqdad Miri, reported in a recent statement that the Energy Police Directorate achieved significant progress in January 2025, seizing a total of 116 non-compliant tanks and arresting 152 individuals involved in the smuggling of oil derivatives. Additionally, two garages were confiscated with excess oil product amounting to 2,661,000 liters.

General Miri emphasized, “The Directorate has successfully recorded a 98% decrease in the smuggling rate, with no reported transgressions of oil pipeline integrity across all governorates.”
