Baghdad Ration Card Automation Launch Set for Next Tuesday

Automating the Ration Card System: A Key Initiative in Iraq

The Ministry of Commerce is set to launch an automation project for the ration card system in Baghdad next Tuesday, ultimately aiming to streamline procedures for 32 million Iraqi citizens over the upcoming days.

This initiative follows earlier successes in the provinces of Wasit and Salah al-Din, where significant progress has already been recorded. Following these initial steps, the project extended to four additional governorates: Maysan, Diwaniya, Anbar, and Diyala. The program has seen considerable engagement, with between 180,000 and 230,000 citizens utilizing the service each day to update their cards.

As indicated by officials, after the Baghdad launch, the automation project will progress to the Kurdistan region within one to two weeks. There is a strong collaboration with the regional government to ensure a smooth implementation. Subsequent to the Kurdistan governorates, the project will proceed to Basra, Dhi Qar, and Al-Muthanna. The Ministry is optimistic about completing the automation across all cities in Iraq by June, barring any unforeseen technical complications that might necessitate a postponement of the timeline.

This automation initiative represents a significant step towards modernizing Iraq’s public service operations, enhancing efficiency, and improving citizen access to essential resources.
