Baghdad Media Authority Reports $957M Debt from Cork Telecom

The Media and Communications Authority has delineated the outstanding debts of Cork Telecom Company, affirming that it has remitted the revenues earned from telecom operators to the state treasury.

The authority indicated in a document that Cork Company has failed to settle amounts totaling $957,108,724 and 226,568,444,234 dinars.

Additionally, it noted that the authority continues to impose charges on the company pertaining to usage fees for frequencies, penalties, and other obligations in accordance with the license contract, which concluded on August 30, 2022.

Furthermore, the commission reported that the firms Asiasil and Al-Athir have fulfilled their payment obligations as of December 31, 2024, although appeals related to these amounts are still pending before the judiciary.

The authority confirmed that it has successfully transferred telecommunications revenues to the Ministry of Finance.
