Economic Outlook – Baghdad
Abdul Muttalib Al-Alawi, the Governor of Baghdad, unveiled the provincial projects map for 2025, which is currently under development and expected to be inaugurated within the year. He emphasized that this year will witness the launch of several health and service-related initiatives in the capital.
In a recent statement, Al-Alawi highlighted that numerous projects will become operational in 2025, particularly in the health sector. Notably, two hospitals are currently under construction: Al-Fadhila Hospital, anticipated to progress significantly by mid-year, and the 400-bed Freedom Hospital, set to open by year-end.
He further noted that the Baghdad-Mosul entrance project is scheduled to launch within the next two months. This significant initiative will include infrastructure enhancements with a capacity featuring eight lanes—four in each direction—alongside approximately 17 pedestrian bridges and five vehicular bridges, supplemented by street improvements.
Additionally, Al-Alawi mentioned the Baghdad-Babylon entrance project, which has been initiated and is expected to open this year. Other notable projects include the Baghdad-Ghraib entrance and additional strategic sewer projects projected for late this year or early next year, alongside various initiatives across multiple sectors.
He also discussed the Baghdad-Al-Kout entrance, indicating an agreement with the Ministry of Construction to standardize specifications. The ministry will oversee the entire entrance development, excluding lighting, which will remain the responsibility of the province.
