Economic Update – Baghdad
The Governor of Baghdad, Abdul Muttalib Al-Alawi, announced on Tuesday that significant progress has been made in the construction of Al-Hurriya General Hospital, with the completion rate now reaching 70 percent.
In a statement from the Government Media and Communication Department, Al-Alawi outlined the timeline for the hospital’s opening, which is planned to commence in the tenth month of this year, with full completion targeted by the end of the year. This facility is set to provide essential health services to the citizens of the capital.
Al-Alawi detailed that the hospital will feature a capacity of 400 beds and will consist of four distinct buildings: the Consulting Building, Main Building, Emergency Building, and a residential building (Dar Al-Ashbat) containing 152 apartments. The project also includes vital infrastructure components such as water supply, sewage systems, mechanical installations, fire safety systems, and other civil works.
Upon its completion, the hospital is expected to represent a qualitative advancement in the healthcare landscape of Baghdad. It will complement existing facilities such as the General People’s Hospital and Al-Fadiliya General Hospital, as part of the Governorate’s strategic plans to bolster the health sector.
