The Federal Public Service Council is set to terminate the employment of over 5,200 individuals holding advanced degrees and first-stage qualifications, following the Prime Minister’s approval of their employment data.
Saad Al-Lami, the spokesperson for the council, reported that during the years 2023 and 2024, the council successfully employed approximately 60,000 candidates with advanced degrees, pursuant to laws 59 and 67, across two phases. He elaborated that the remaining cohort of 5,200 applicants had their job grades established through an iterative process of deletion and creation initiated by the Ministry of Finance. This data has been forwarded to the Prime Minister’s office for financial vetting, with the Council of Ministers currently finalizing the approval process to allocate these positions across departments and institutions according to specific needs.
Al-Lami added that the upcoming third employment phase will encompass 8,000 positions intended for holders of advanced and first-level certificates. Following the conclusion of the second stage, the council will solicit all ministries and institutions to outline their specialization needs. The Ministry of Finance will then create job grades and associated costs before this information is validated and sent to the Prime Minister for final approval.
The spokesperson emphasized that completing the third stage will signify the closure of the council’s current employment initiatives, which are carried out in accordance with existing laws and regulations.
Additionally, he noted that the council recognizes the necessity for technical, professional, craft, and service personnel within the state’s administrative framework. However, the recruitment of these groups will require specific legislative measures and a substantive law to facilitate their appointments.
