Baghdad Boosts Agricultural Support: Gas Oil Allocations for Farmers Doubled Ahead of Winter 2024-25

Economy News – Baghdad

The Oil Products Distribution Company has announced a significant increase in the allocation of gas oil for farmers utilizing agricultural pumps, in anticipation of the agricultural plan for the winter season of 2024-2025.

According to a statement from the company, General Manager Hussein Talib Abboud has instructed distribution branches across the governorates to prepare a list of farmers participating in the winter season agricultural plan. This preparation will be conducted in coordination with the agricultural directorates in each governorate, with the aim of doubling gas oil allocations to meet their fuel requirements.

The statement also emphasized that directives from the Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs, the Minister of Oil, and the Undersecretary for Distribution Affairs are focused on providing essential support to the agricultural sector, which plays a crucial role in fostering economic development and ensuring food security.

Falah Hashem, the director of equipment, elaborated that the allocation of gas oil to farmers will be determined based on the area cultivated, measured in dunams, as well as operational criteria for agricultural machinery, equipment, pumps, and sprinklers. This assessment will follow the selection of farms, allowing farmers to receive their designated fuel shares based on their needs.
