Baghdad Agriculture Eliminates Foot-and-Mouth Disease Outbreak

The Ministry of Agriculture has announced a significant advancement in managing foot-and-mouth disease, confirming that no cases have been reported in the provinces of Baghdad, Diyala, and Babylon. This announcement reflects ongoing efforts to maintain animal health and agricultural stability in the region.

As per the ministry’s latest data, there has been a marked reduction in the number of infections and fatalities, with only 32 new cases and 3 recorded deaths since the last update.

The ministry further detailed that the residual cases are primarily concentrated in two active foci, with one located in Nineveh Governorate. Currently, the reported figures stand at 32 infections and the unfortunate loss of three animals.

Al-Khuza’i emphasized that the primary outbreaks in Baghdad, Diyala, and Babylon have been effectively contained, resulting in no new infections. This trend indicates a significant improvement in the epidemiological situation and the overall stability of the animal health environment.
