Alibaba Unveils Open Source AI Model for Video Creation

Technology Update – Follow-up

Alibaba, the prominent Chinese technology conglomerate, has announced its plans to introduce an open-source version of its artificial intelligence model, branded as One 2.1, for the creation of videos and images.

A spokesperson revealed that comprehensive details regarding the launch will be made available in a video presentation scheduled for 11:00 PM local time (15:00 GMT).

This development arrives amidst escalating competition within China’s artificial intelligence sector, particularly following the recent unveiling of new open-source models by Deep Seck last month.

These models have disrupted the global AI landscape by delivering performance levels that rival those of leading offerings from companies like OpenAI, which has moved towards closed-source solutions.

Alibaba initially showcased its AI model for generating videos and images in January, subsequently rebranding it from Wanx to One, while highlighting its capabilities to produce highly realistic images. Additionally, Alibaba has declared its commitment to invest 380 billion yuan (approximately $52 billion) over the next three years to bolster its cloud computing and artificial intelligence infrastructure.
