Al-Sudani Unveils 40,000 Housing Units in Muthanna for Educators

Economy News – Baghdad

On Thursday, Prime Minister Mohamed Shi’a Al-Sudani officially inaugurated the execution phase of the Al-Ghadeer residential city project located in Al-Muthanna Governorate. This initiative will encompass the construction of 40,000 housing units, with a specific allocation of 10,000 units dedicated to educators within the governorate.

In a statement from the Prime Minister’s Media Office, it was confirmed that the commencement of this significant residential development coincides with Al-Sudani’s visit to Al-Muthanna, where he unveiled several productive and service-oriented projects. The large number of housing units reflects the Prime Minister’s endorsement of a directive aimed at engaging a real estate developer to facilitate the project and ensure the provision of integrated services.

Al-Sudani mentioned that the allocation of 10,000 housing units for educational professionals aims to establish the largest education district in Iraq. He commended the proactive approach of the local government in Al-Muthanna for distributing a substantial amount of land to educators, framing this initiative as a gesture of appreciation, particularly in conjunction with the upcoming Teacher’s Day.

The Prime Minister acknowledged the efforts of local government officials in meeting all the necessary requirements for land allocation situated near the provincial center. He also underscored that the blueprint for residential city development includes guarantees for the execution companies to build essential facilities such as schools, health centers, and civil defense institutions.

He reiterated that the government’s strategy to address the housing crisis encompasses multiple avenues, including the establishment of residential cities and the provision of serviced residential lands, aimed at delivering a sustainable resolution to this significant issue. Moreover, he expressed that provinces are encouraged to explore partnerships with private sector real estate developers.
