On Sunday, Prime Minister Mohamed Shi’a Al-Sudani met with a delegation from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), led by Vice President Kamel Al-Awadi. The Prime Minister’s Media Office reported that the discussions centered around Iraq’s initiatives aimed at lifting the European ban on Iraqi Airways, including an assessment of the progress made by the dedicated committee responsible for fulfilling the necessary conditions to lift the ban.
The meeting also covered Iraq’s efforts to enhance airline operations through the implementation of automation across all functional areas. Additionally, themes included increasing the airline’s operational capabilities, improving employee skill sets, and upgrading the service quality provided to travelers and cargo transport.
The Prime Minister emphasized the critical nature of this initiative, underscoring the importance of continuous oversight by the committee focused on resolving the ban. He pledged to facilitate all necessary measures to ensure the committee’s objectives are met, while simultaneously advancing the capabilities of the airline and adhering to international standards in air transport.
In response, Al-Awadi highlighted the significance of successfully resolving this issue, noting that the corrective plan has achieved a commendable 56% completion rate, indicating that the project is on track in terms of its timeline.
