Strengthening Economic Ties: Iraq and Czech Republic Collaborate
Baghdad – In a significant move aimed at bolstering economic cooperation, Prime Minister Muhammad Shi’a Al-Sudani convened a meeting with Czech Prime Minister Peter Viela. This meeting, attended by the heads of the Iraqi Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of Industries in Iraq, also included their Czech counterparts, ambassadors from both nations, and representatives from the National Investment Authority.
Promoting Private Sector Growth
The talks underscored a mutual commitment to enhance the private sectors within both countries, emphasizing the identification and development of investment opportunities across various sectors in Iraq. Prime Minister Al-Sudani highlighted the strategic importance of Czech firms entering the Iraqi market, particularly given Iraq’s ongoing initiatives to advance its construction capabilities, including a plan to construct one million housing units.
Creating Sustainable Partnerships
Al-Sudani proposed the establishment of a preparatory committee comprising representatives from the industrial federations of both countries to ensure sustained collaboration. He also suggested organizing an exhibition in Baghdad to showcase Czech enterprises. Furthermore, the Prime Minister extended an invitation to the Union of Czech Industries, the Czech Chambers, corporate entities, and private investors to explore opportunities in Iraq.
Facilitating Business Interactions
During the session, discussions included the formation of a joint business council aimed at streamlining operations for entrepreneurs. Key topics encompassed the establishment of foundational criteria for visa issuance and facilitation of investor entry between the two nations.
By fostering these collaborative efforts, Iraq aims to attract foreign investment and develop a robust business environment conducive to growth, leveraging the expertise and resources of Czech companies in various industries.
