Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani Launches Six New Hypermarkets in Baghdad

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani inaugurated six new marketing centers, also known as Hypermarkets, in Baghdad. This initiative aims to enhance the availability of food and consumer goods at subsidized prices for the local population.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s media office, these centers will offer a variety of food and goods, promoting affordability and access for consumers.

In addition to the newly opened centers, the Prime Minister announced the commencement of 23 similar projects across Baghdad and various governorates. This expansion reflects the government’s commitment to bolstering the retail sector and supporting consumers amidst challenging economic conditions.

Looking ahead, the Iraqi Ministry of Commerce has indicated that preparations are underway for the opening of an additional five Hypermarkets in Baghdad by the end of August 2024. These centers will operate under the Hypermarket system, offering services to consumers at a supportive price reduction of up to 20% compared to the local market.

The introduction and expansion of these marketing centers is expected to play a critical role in stabilizing prices and enhancing the overall shopping experience for citizens in the region.
