16 Arrested in Baghdad for Stealing Defense Ministry Land

Economy Report – Baghdad

The Federal Integrity Authority has announced the dismantling of a network comprising 16 individuals accused of illegally extracting dust from land owned by the Ministry of Defense.

In a recent statement, the authority confirmed its success in apprehending these suspects who were engaged in the unauthorized removal of materials from the site. The operation was executed under a judicial order and conducted under the direct oversight of the investigating judge. A team of investigators from Baghdad was assembled to probe into the alarming reports regarding this network.

Upon receiving the judicial mandate from the second Karkh court’s investigating judge, the team expedited their response to the site. As the investigation unfolded, they successfully detained all 16 accused individuals, who were found illegally extracting materials from the land located in the western sector of Baghdad, designated for the Ministry of Defense.

This operation was further supported by collaboration with the Rapid Response Forces, leading to the seizure of various vehicles, including eight trucks and three sponsors, alongside two seals belonging to a laboratory and a quarry, as well as receipts linked to the factory found within makeshift caravans set up in the middle of the land plot.

The authority emphasized the establishment of a comprehensive control record for this operation, which has now been presented, along with the sixteen accused individuals, to the relevant investigative judge to finalize the necessary legal procedures and ascertain the future actions regarding the accused.
